The Chase

Winemaking is a relentless pursuit — each vintage a chance to chase that fleeting moment when earth and instinct align.

The natural order does not bend to will.  Seasons shift. Winds turn.  Harvest arrives on its own terms. You can guide the process, but you cannot command it.

In ancient mythology, the Fates spun and measured the threads of human destiny.  In winemaking, it is nature that holds the threads — and we follow where they lead.

Fates’ Lieutenant honors this ancient pursuit: the discipline, obsession, and humility to chase something greater than ourselves.

Fates Gathering in the Stars

The Fates Gathering in the Stars. Elihu Vedder, 1887

This whole act's immutably decreed. 'Twas rehearsed by thee and me a billion years before this ocean rolled...

Fool! I am the Fates' lieutenant;
I act under orders.

 — Herman Melville's Captain Ahab
